Why Does cela Care About Accelerators?

cela’s monthly gathering of accelerators leaders from all over the world, cela GATE (h/tp Mike Roderick). April 2019. More than 500 accelerator leaders have joined for the event since its inaugural launch in May 2018. The event has its next run Thursday, April 22nd, at noon EST!

What is an ecosystem? Better yet, what really is an accelerator? Do they work? What do they do? How? Where is it all going? What role does cela play? What has it learned? Does cela have predictions for what’s next? What is next?!

Time is showing: people and organizations need to know your vision, not just your services. As the world changes faster and more unpredictably, what your business might become is as important as what it does right now.

And while cela is super active and transparent as a community, as a service, and as a content group, and much of the startup accelerator world is aware of cela — our activities do not speak for themselves.

So! As we all enter a new phase in rebuilding our world, the articles you see here will answer the above questions (and many more!) on a regular basis.

This series will also be an additional platform for cela to feature programs and professionals that it believes in, as well as for our key partnerships.

First, let’s take a step back to make sure anyone reading this does indeed know where we’re coming from:

cela builds accelerators. We also produce and partner with events that bring the accelerator ecosystem together: that means working with accelerator programs, entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, sponsors, services, media — each has a place in our network.

cela runs the first and only (!) global gathering of accelerator programs and professionals in the industry’s short history, called the cela Summit, and our sponsors are world class services, corporations, foundations, startups, and investors.

cela’s services work with clients who are blue-chip corporations, great universities, or powerful public institutions — as well as with other accelerator programs themselves.

cela is also helping tell the story of accelerators alongside some of the top media organizations in the world, including numerous activations with Forbes, the Nasdaq, and TechCrunch — and we’ve spoken across the world making the case for an accelerator-based ecosystem in Haiti, Aruba, China, Japan, and have presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

We were founded on February 7th, 2019 by a small group of millennials who owe their careers — and much more — to this new and special space.

cela is also a venture-backed team of accelerator experts — now weathered by a pandemic that has destroyed so many other businesses.

And now, the short and sweet point of this post: we care about accelerators because we believe any accelerator is primarily a platform of access, that provides a keystone to (1) complete the current model of education, (2) solve the changing demands of work, and (3) bring the future of both together.

Why? The answers are coming, Neo. Reach out to us any time at cela@cela.nyc.
